"I have lived here all my life and been to every single one," said Joanne Aungst, who brought her sister, Debbie Meyers, of Bloomingdale -- and plenty of cash.
"We come to buy stuff, to shop," Aungst said before snatching up a candle from borough-based Pami's Soy Country Candles. The sisters then hustled down Newark-Pompton Turnpike to gather more goodies.
They had plenty to choose from: An assortment of shops offered everything from plants to clothes to jewelry.
The Michiels family of Wayne particularly liked the tent featuring clothing by Dye It Up of Bucks County, Pa. Katie purchased a groovy tie-dyed sun dress for her daughters Kay, 6, and Bridgette, 3.
"We've come the last couple of years and it's great," the girls' grandmother, Suzanne Santora, said as each of the youngsters won a blow-up animal.
With temperatures in the 90s, new Riverdale Public School Principal Sean Bowe had the best seat on the block -- the dunking booth. All proceeds sold by the Class of 2017 went towards helping the students go to Washington, D.C.
Other patrons turned to ice cream or lemonade stands to cool off.
At the opposite end of the temperature spectrum was Coney Island Wood-Fired Pizza of Riverdale, operated by a Montvale trio.
"This oven can get to 1,000 degrees," said co-owner Brett Carlson.
Others flocked to pony rides, face painting, air brush tattoos and a bounce house.
Continuing what has become a family tradition, pregnant borough resident Kim Cerretta brought her daughter, Rosalia.
"We've been coming here since we moved here seven years ago," Cerretta said. "It's really a great family environment to take the kids and have them have fun and smile."
